Summertime and the living is easy

Summertime!  This summer could not be any better for these Arizonians!  The high has maybe reached 75 degrees with many cool, rainy and breezy days. The Norwegians wish it was a little warmer, (last summer it did get up to 90 degrees.)  But, we are loving it .... and the living is easy.

Wouldn't the living be easy on this island -
cloudy or sunny?

Norwegian charm abounds!  Many neighborhood
mail box stands are decorated with pots or
hanging baskets of flowers.

The Elders are becoming very proficient in painting -
providing much service to many people this summer.
This time, the Søsters, Jim and I joined them at the
Swendsen's to help paint their 100+ year old barn and
enjoy the beautiful sunny day on their many acres filled
with flowers, vegetables, woods and charm!

On the Swendsen's acreage, stands this adorable
playhouse extraodinaire.  Lucky grandkids!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch which included
many fresh vegetables and strawberries from
their sprawling garden.

Their amazing 100+ year old home
is so charming.

Everyone is at the beach or at their water front hyttas.

Recently we were invited out to Hilda's family
water front home.  The only way to get there is
by boat or a walk through the woods.

Such a cute family spending quality family time at their hytta.

What's for dinner? Fresh sea trout!
Caught by our friends Tom og Turid.

Blueberries grow wild - like ground cover in the woods.
They are small but tasty.  A very nice finish to our trout dinner!

We enjoyed a delightful visit with this cute family.
(the picture is missing two more family members)
They know how to relax and enjoy their summer.

K-sand's current missionaries are also enjoying summer...
and we sure are enjoying them!
Søsters Smith og Hudson and Eldstes Naumu og Bjornn.

On the way back to the center we fit in all four.
Søster Hudson felt veldig koselig (cozy) in the back.

So inviting!

At one spot on the hike around "our" lake, you
turn to the left and see the lake.....

and turn to the right and see the North Sea.

Our "charming" R.S. president and the senior
missionary sister at a recent ward beach party.

Home teaching is extra special in the summer!
Traveling through beautiful scenery and visiting
with beautiful people and their dogs!

My companion enjoying home teaching and Chevy is
liking the attention.

Round-a-bouts control the traffic here and they
are so colorful this time of year.

Two very charming hyttas.

Feeling loved and blessed living in Norway this summer!!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

"Der er solskinn i min sjel idag"

There is sunshine in my soul today -
and the sun is shining bright all over
our beautiful neighborhood.

Bjørghild and I recently visit taught Jeanette -
she met us at the door and asked if we would like
to walk through her garden before going inside.
Everyone is so proud of their gardens and they are beautiful!

One of my favorites!  I think the buds are as pretty
as the blossoms.

Wildflowers are everywhere!

Yes, these grow wild.

This cute home is one of the oldest in Søgne.

It has a beautiful garden!

The goat needs to get back up there and finish
"mowing".

The seagulls are enjoying the new crop of delicious
Søgne strawberries!

They are as sweet and good as they look

Just another beautiful scene!

It was fun to watch this raft full of
young kids giggling, screaming and
having such a good time!

Boat trailers are stored away for the summer ...

because the boats are in the water or...

...

 near by.

It is always a joy to spend time with the Lund family
and to have dinner with them - makes the day more beautiful!
Cathrine is an excellent cook!!

For dessert - a "volcano ice cream cake",
meringue base, egg cream, ice cream and lots of
fresh fruit.  Delicious!

How is this for relaxing?

Everywhere we look - green!

Kim is a new visitor at Senteret, he came with an investigator. Recently he came in, sat down, looked around and said,
"I really like this place."  Kim has taken to Jim, calls him
"Nelson" - they are building quite a relationship.  Jim is encouraging him to quit smoking and told Kim to think
of him each time he wants a cigarette. He took his pack and
wrote "Jim" on the front to remind him.  Kim just needs
love, support, and the peace and guidance of the Gospel,
like we all do.  The other evening, as he was leaving
the center, he gave us hugs.  It was a good feeling.
It is such a blessing to be here, to make so many new
friends and hopefully have a positive influence in
the lives of these young people.

There is sunshine in my soul today and everyday!

A beautiful end to another beautiful day
in the neighborhood.
