Marie's Birthday Weekend

We took our first real P-Day on Saturday, Sept. 13.  We have some free time during the week when we do the shopping etc., but on this day, we wore gentile clothes and drove to the cutest little town, Lillesand.  Lillesand is, of course, right on the shore of The North Sea and is a very popular spot for Summer vacationers.  In order to keep it small and quaint, there is no investment property.  You have to live in the property you own.  It is delightful!

Jim would love to hang out in that white house.

All the homes, businesses and buildings are white.

Just a charming little town.

We saw several of these tiny cars  -
a great way to get around town.

Gorgeous!

Wouldn't it be fun to stay in one of those cute red houses?

I'm glad we have a small car!
We call these marshmallows - protecting the hay from all the rain.

Sunday, Sept. 14 - Marie's BIG birthday

After church, we were invited to go to a wonderful family's home for dinner and for the blessing of their new baby.  We traveled to Evje, about an hour away and had a wonderful afternoon.  Daniel's parents and family are living in the States - New York and Utah, so he Skyped them so they could be "present" for the blessing. Technology is amazing!  Liesell's family, here in Norway are not members except for her mother so Jim stood up with Daniel while he blessed his precious little daughter. We then had a delicious meal and spent the next couple of hours visiting and getting to know this great family.  I know Kari, (Liesell's mother), and I will be eternal friends!!

I had a great birthday weekend!!  Getting older isn't so bad!

Stor klem!

  3. HELLO! Diane just told me about the blog so I could keep in touch. Saw Mandy tonight at GG's. These pictures are wonderful...what a gorgeous place you live in! Your frige is certainly a mite small, LOL. Today I was helping teach the new missionaries at the library and one couple is from Tempe, I told them my sister lived there...but they said that area was out of their stake. Then the man said....One man I knew there just got released as Bishop. I said what is his name...He said Jim Nelson! Sooooo, Kent and Kay Layton are new missionaries with us! Small world.
    Love you!
